Am trying to remove my barends and am having difficulty. It is a round dome on the end of the bar with no way of unscrewing it. I have tried twisting it off with plyer-type tools but it simply won't budge. Any suggestions?
Also does anyone know the internal (and/or external) diameter of stock clipons? And if possible where to source bar-end mirrors (singular or pair)?
Yes I know some may not like bar-end mirrors but from what I remember it wasn't for your bike
Cheers people.

Yeah ,you have to get fairly aggressive with the multi grips to get them off. I've found thinking of John Howard helps
Superbike shop has the little alloy barend mirrors for about $60 each. I'll see if i can find the address if your interested.

When i first saw this thread I thought you wanted to no what time the pub shuts

MMM but to all you engineer type folk out there you may be able to shed some light on this. Are the bar ends a specific weight to mininise vibration(like a harmonic balancer)???

not a specific weight as such , but on the z1000 the trick is to add a bar of solder in each end , the type plumbers use ,, this seems to help a bit but the bars on that bike are rubber mounted as well !!! , problem with trx is that at cursing speed say 70 mph the engine vibrates at its worst ,, so go faster or change the gearing perhaps ??

I've tried the Rex with standard bars and standard weights, standard bars and Motrax barends (lighter), Harris clipons with heavy (YZF750) weights and Harris clipons with the motrax bar ends, all with the standard TRX front end, and none were better/worse that the others for vibes so I don't think it makes too much difference.

Kev...
I have been aggressive with the barends - to the point where the multigrips have vut ridges in the metal. I would also be very interested in the barend mirrors and would be greatful if you could help with the address and/or phone number and/or website
Any more help on internal bar diameter would be fantastic

http://www.bevelheaven.com/stuff-for-sale-mirror.htm do the CRG barend mirrors. If i recall correctly , i used vice grips and mangled the caps before they came out ...but they did come out. The bars are 18mm internal.
Good luck.

I removed my bar ends after much hassle with vice grips and the ends were destroyed.
The reason that I did this was because I was frustrated with the original mirrors, and wanted to fit something more functional.
I replaced the original mirrors with a set of english Halcyon chrome bar end mirrors that I got from a shop in St Peters in sydney called Motociclo.
From memory they cost me about $160- , and to date have been realy good.(I also like the look)
I remember asking a similar question to yours only to be met with scepticism from some members on this forum as to the usefulness of bar end mirrors.
Bar end mirrors suit me and hopefully they will work as well for you.
Good luck.

Got mine from AuSFR. They're Oberon ones 60mm across and have 2 different mounting points for the mirror stem. I think mine cost $150, but I think the price has increased to $200 now.
You can get them in a myriad of colours. I got gold bar ends with black mirrors - suits my bike.
Use vice (or mole) grips, they do come off eventually. ID was 17-18mm? OD was 22mm.
