Exhaust mountings

Just noticed that the RH rear footrest/exhaust hanger was loose. When I looked closer one of the frame lugs had fractured and the other is going the same way with a hairline crack visible.
Anyone else had this and is there a better way to fix it than trying to weld the broken part of the lug back on (have to do it in situ I guess as it's a big job to strip all the stuff off the frame)

I have heard of this before, and mine are 'rusty' around the welds. Must be a weak spot. best solution must be to make it as it was before i.e. weld it back on.

they do tend to go if they get rusty , just mig weld it and repaint , if it were me i would take the petrol tank off and the rear bodywork ,disconnect the battery, and have a mate on fire watch with co2 at the ready ,, good luck

Mine is the same. Yip, weld is your best bet. Can't think of any other way.

I'd get someone that knows how to weld to do it...You don't want to try it yourself and burn a hole in the frame (As I probably would)

common problem

stripping down is not really a massive job (rear bodywork is easy and the undertray will 'swing' out of the way if you remove all the mounting bolts) - I'd recommend doing it properly
