Gidday folks.
. Having trouble finding someone who can supply me with RAMAIR ms-009 twinsock foam air filter for my FCR's running blue bellmouths. (believe they come in a pack of 2 and have someone lined up to take the other) BOB TRX down in Vic told me he was supplied by RAID UK but have had no response from them in over two weeks after sending an e mail about 4 weeks ago and another around 2 wks. Have tried two other online uk sites(as that is all i can find who supplies them) but with a sorry dont stock that perticular model.
Anyone else know who may be able to supply me with these filters (and shipping to Australia)for myself and Kev.

Right ... Raid and Janspeed merged, then split in half in a different way ... their phones and email are all over the place!!! I found a helpful guy who has sent sincerest apologies that you've got lost in the middle of it all.

They're out of stock at the mo but do make them in-house and can supply single units. As far as the guy knows they should be happy to send to Australia ... he's going to find out confirmed timescale and prices and ring me back later. I'll edit this post with the info as and when.

Anyone else out there wanting them? I'm going to ask what kind of discount he'll give us

Well hopefully if everything pans out I may be wanting one also (Gold Coast, Australia), but firstly, what is the advantage and/or disadvantage of these over say pod-filters?

They seem to flow more air than K&N pod filtesr (or at least require a bigger main jet). This should equate to more power but .....

Ramair foam filters flow much better than K&N`s,S&B`s etc.
I`ve used them a fair bit over the years but I`ve also made my own filters from airfilter foam sheets that are readily available from the car tuning shops that spring up everywhere.
A pair of scissors,contact adhesive and old carb to airbox rubbers are all you need to make up your own,it`s far from rocket science.
Mist them with silicon spray before use but not visibly wet or it`ll soften the glue.
My Skorpion runs a pair of Mikuni`s with a `modified` airbox and dual density filter foam I cut to fit an old air cleaner housing,(cut the folded paper element out with a craft knife),flows a treat and is so easy to clean too.
I`ve got one in use while a second is already clean and ready to swap over,takes two minutes.
Had some beautiful spun alloy bellmouths on my 41 mm Dellorto`s that were fitted to my Guzzi Le Mans,topped off with stainless steel laboratory mesh sieves sandwiching the foam that clipped on snugly over their ends,can`t remember the mesh size I used off the top of my head but they worked a treat for years and everyone was always asking me where they could buy some.

I can remember my old man using the nylon from ladies stockings over his bellmouths,also remember them being holed now and again by flame `spits` back through the carb if the advance was out on the ignition timing too.
Foam filters are bloody expensive for what they are in my opinion.

your right about them being expensive !! and its the last time i buy any ,i payed £40 last time, i will make my own in future , the foam as you say is readily available

Well as suggested.. got some air filter foam .. sat down and took a few measurements from the carbs and bingo.. one copy of a twin sock filter (pretty close to same demensions of the ramair from memory) with the help of a ruler .scissors, a coffee cup to trace around to give me my oval ends and the top of a herb jar for the inlets. Glued to gether with some contact and another two small blocks to sit over the slow air jets. Will take a photo with my pipemasters 2 into 1 big bore exhaust and download shortly.
$25 for a sheet of foam 410mm x 310mm x20mm but through a bike shop so I'm sure i could manage cheaper if I shop around.
