OK hopefully this will be the last time I ask about chain & sprockets.
After mucho searching on here I have decided to go with a 525 chain, 110 links, 17T front & 42T rear sprockets as this seems to please most TRX users.

So who do I buy from & what is the best make these days ?

Might as well buy the whole kit now as my front 17T is shagged & the chain is at the end of its adjustment which just leaves the rear sprocket which although looks ok, is the wrong size for my needs. I will hold my hands up now & say the real reason for wanting lower gearing is so I can practice pointing my front wheel at the sky without ruining my clutch (too soon). [*]

If you want economical, any e-bay seller or Wemoto - JT steel sprockets and generic chain.

If you want ally (or less economical), just call B&C express with the sizes you want and your credit card, and they'll sort you out over the phone in a couple minutes and mail the kit to you.

IMO no easy way to tell what a good or a bad chain is unless you're going to test them yourself. The load ratings are useful, but could be as accurate as the advertised weight of a ZX7R. (<--- i.e. not at all) I'd just go for the cheapest o, x or w ring chain with an appropriate strength rating you can find.

i would ONLY ever use an OEM front sprocket (yes even tho its £40)
i've had no end of troubles with JT ones on XTZ & TDM, they are a shite fit on the output shaft splines and the cause of many a welded output shaft
when it fecks up its an engine replacement to fix, dont skimp on front sprockets!

M&P (http://www.mandp.co.uk) do a good deal on Oring C&S kits (which is all you really need on a 80hp bike)
but bin the front sprocket they supply as its a JT.

also make sure you refit a new locking washer tab and nut
