Anyone know if they are available separately or do I have to buy a whole set ? Just need left hand engine casing gasket but I've only seen them for sale as a set up to now.

Whilst attempting to cure my oil filter housing leak I decided to remove & paint my engine casing & damaged the sodding gasket getting it off. I put it back together using a smear of instant but (in my best black country accent) "it day work lork."

I've used a Loctite Flange Sealant before with no gasket at all... it's like an instant silicon gasket, but with muscles!
I can't remember the tube number but I think the other serial is 5699. Bloody excellent stuff.

Just had it off again & gave it 1 last go with the instant. It should do the trick as it was supplied by Ford with a transit sump (they don't use a gasket on the new ones) & the bloke who's sump I replaced hasn't been back yet !
Gave it all a right good clean/de-grease & left the instant stuff to go tacky before I bolted the casing back on so will have to see if it worked tomorrow.

be VERY carfull with instant gasket on the trx ,, if it gets into the small feed for the cams your fecked ,,, i would not use it , a gasket cost £10 ,,a motor, well its not going to be good

Gaskets are all available separately: I just bought a new yamaha lhs engine cover one from Alf England Yamaha at Bedworth for iirc about £6-8 + p&p.
You can find the part number in the parts catalogue on this site.

Thanks a lot, I was paranoid enough about using it but now you've said that !
So paranoid in fact I called my local shop earlier & they have a gasket in stock for £6, yes six quid so I'm off over to Stratford in a bit to pick it up.
Good advice chaps, appreciate it.

Gasket fitted, leak cured, New longer bolt in oil filter housing holding nicely, all back together. Just been for a quick blat round the block & it seems fine, I'm back in love with my bike again.
