..please, on the left hand side as you sit on the bike, on the frame rail (not the main one running from headstock to swingarm, but one of the ones that comes down from there to the engine mount) theres a small metal tube welded to the frame, which points inwards, turns 90 degrees and then points backwards and upwards, about 50mm long...

...should something be connected to it? Following my "off" mine has nothing connected and I can remember if it should have, and I cant find a photo that shows it clearly enough.

WTF?? So you're telling me thats where I connect the Hoover if I want to suck the cobwebs out the inside of the frame??

Thought it might connect to a small 'nipple' just above on the airbox????

I really can't remember - noone uses it anyway

On standard carbs there is a knurled screw sticking through the frame just above it, pipe from the front (front of bike) of that device goes onto frame lug.

Idle adjustment knob...

Air box breather Dave, should have a little valve thingy (technical terms again) half way along the tube too, looks like a small, black, in-line, fuel filter.

No little valve thingy, but is an import so could be different.

Nope, mine's got a little valve thingy on the breather tube too.

My knob's almost always idle...

OK, so it does go to the 'nipple' on the airbox straight above, and has some sort of (one way? and which way?) valve on it..?

I can't see a reason for it particularly, but I'll see if I can find a bit of pipe to connect them up, just to be safe.

well if its an import its a little valve doova...

Well my Japanese import does not have this, however my father's TRX does and a hose connects from this to the under-left side of the air-box.... as G Beale stated Just a small rubber hose joins the two.
