Hi guys (& girls)
I'm looking at polishing my exhaust header pipes which have suffered the effects of road grime etc (as they do!)
Can anyone give me advice on doing this - a guy I know has done his with Autosol & elbow grease but I wondered
if you could do an initial cleanup with steel wool or wet'n'dry paper or something to get most of the original finish
back before using the Autosol to finish them off or would this damage the pipes? (I'm a tad lazy when it comes to
this type of thing ) - once I get them looking good again I'll keep them nice - the previous owner wasn't too
concerned about this type of thing unfortunately

Hi pbear ... moved your thread here as you'll get more replies ... and I deleted the duplicate of the thread.

Used fine wire wool (big ball from B&Q) with Autosol on it and lots of applications and buffing brought my Hornet headers up to a mirror like finish. Once done only had to re-do occasionally to retain finish although I didn't commute on that bike it must be said. Word of warning - wear some sort of eye protection as a gust of wind blew some of the wire wool debris into my eyes. Annoyed me for a week of more before nature took its course.....

Thanks for the info "corners". My pipes are now off & I've made a start - will post some before & after pics when i'm done.
