Carb to engine inlet rubbers - TDM ones fit?
Hey peeps,
Just been checking out wemoto for parts and they don't have the inlet rubbers for the TRX, but have them for the TDM,('99 - '01 4TX model).
Before I order them, can anyone tell me if there is a reason they would be different?

The parts fiche has them with a 3LD prefix which is the XTZ750. Maybe they're the same for all the parallel twins?

I went ahead and ordered some, even with postage it's cheaper than down under.
I ordered a set off the '96-'97 TDM850 page, just to be safe. Haynes says TDM carb changed from BDST38 to BDSR38 in '99. Dunno if it makes a difference or not.

Re: Carb to engine inlet rubbers - TDM ones fit?
TDM and TRX rubber boots from the head to the carb 100% DO NOT MATCH. The bolt spacing is different as too is the shape as you can see. The vacuum line is also omitted on the TDM model.
Hope this helps others. The TDM850 (180deg carb'd) i couldnt confirm tho.. As i dont have any.
PS: for those ppl playing at home, they probably realised that the heads are also different. Some ppl mentioned that the heads are identical and universal, well, they aint. That i can assure you of ! Unless you take all the throttles, and electronics, and the fuel pump and fuel rails.. But thats only a minor thing
I have a spare set here (i think) which you can prolly grab off me if you really need. Dont think they will be any better than the ones you have tho (unless you dont have ANY and you need some).
Shoot me a PM to remind me. I guess i can dig em out and post em yoru way.. Im in Radelaide.

Qaun-Time is(I think)referring to the TDM900 head as I`m sure that`s a TDM900 throttle body shown in the picture.
Correct me if I`m wrong Quan-Time.

Ahhh, but then again it´s very strange that there are a guy in germany who rebuilds TRX & XTZ to 900´s with carbs??Mincehead wrote:Qaun-Time is(I think)referring to the TDM900 head as I`m sure that`s a TDM900 throttle body shown in the picture.

Thanks for the offer QT - I have the new rubbers (tdm850) in a box but haven't pulled the carbs off the trx yet to check if they are the same, still need to give the head and cylinder block a good clean out before I disassemble it. Will post pics when I get to it.

Re: Carb to engine inlet rubbers - TDM ones fit?
As i said, the TDM900 is different, but i cant confirm the TDM850. I actually suspect they are the same as the part numbers are identical now (yammy made one redundant).
Hope that clears it up.

Re: Carb to engine inlet rubbers - TDM ones fit?
oh ffs.. my bad.. i TOTALLY misread what you were on about.
Those rubber adapter things are indeed the same. I thought you were talking about the whole lot, not just the cheap rubber seal. So sorry about that !
Its why i posted the bolting end and how it mates to the cyl head.. oops !
But again, MUCH of the TDM850 parts catalog was made redundant and TRX parts are used now. Either way, goodluck and sorry for any confusion !

Re: Carb to engine inlet rubbers - TDM ones fit?
heheheh... I was re-reading the posts and started to think perhaps the issue was getting a bit confused! At least there's always no shortage of helpful input
Well, for all the Aussies, these were $45 delivered from the UK, I forget what I was quoted locally, but it was a fair bit more.
