Neutral light staying on?

Just before Christmas I was at a trackday, as I was shifting gears between 3rd and 4th I noticed that my neutral light was flickering. When I shifted into 5th it came on, and stayed on. It's been intermittently going back to normal, but will come back on whenever I change gear. So far there have been no other problems with the gearbox that would tell me something was wrong.
Any ideas as to what it could be?

Yep it`ll be the switch.
They work on an earth return, the switch makes the earth that lights the bulb.So likely it`s become dirty with fine metallic particles which are finding a path to earth.
There is an off chance that it`s the wire that goes down to the switch which may have rubbed somewhere and is making an earth but the switch is far more likely.

Sadly i don't have a solution, just a similar problem, which i don't think has to do with an earthing problem. My neutral gear is always on, except when the sidestand is down... Then it's behaving as it should. . All other functionality is as expected, i.e. trying to put 1st gear in with sidestand out kills the engine. I don't mean to hijack your thread, but was wondering whether the gear/sidestand works as normal?

Mine did exactly the same thing (on all the time unless the sidestand was down when it worked perfectly). Turned out to be a problem in the little black box that the neutral light/sidestand switch plugs into (sits in front of the battery box). Changed it for a spare one I had and all was fine.

Hallelujah!!!
I've tried to resolve this, but then gave up and learned to live with it. Thx for the tip, and sorry for hi-jacking the thread!
