Noticed a coolant leak today, after I got back from 400km return trip to Bathurst.
At first I thought it was the radiator or the hoses but tracked it down to a small leak from
the thermostat housing. Is it just a replacement of the o-ring or do you have to replace the whole unit?
Performance of the bike has not changed and 'the fluid level in the reservoir and the rad are still the same.

BTW how much are they worth new, $AUD?

Just an O ring, although the housings do have a habit of corroding up a fair bit so it may need a good scour with fine wire wool on the seating surfaces.I TRIED to get a generic O ring when I rebuilt mine but eventually got a Yamaha one for little money.

have a look at the plastic O ring flange for distortion. I placed a steel backing plate behind mine which was about 3mm thick. This sandwiched the flange, and straightened it up when the bolts were tightened. It will need a new O ring as well though.....cheers

Damnedest thing, since I've been back in Sydney and commuting on it , it hasn't leaked.
I've got the o-ring on order and my mechanic said just watch it and see what happens.
I forgot to mention..........it was -4.5 deg C at Bathurst that weekend - back home in Sydney it was a balmy 18 deg
