Don't know about the FZR, but for the TRX you need to undo the allen key bolt on the bottom of the forks, accessed through a hole underneath after you've removed the axle.

You'll either need a holding tool to hold the damper rod or a rattle gun.

I think that`ll be for the legs lower alloy casting, it`ll not need to be touched. If I`m wrong I`m sure somebody else will tell me.

yeah i had that idea before i went looking but thought i surely must be able to simply buy a long allen key socket and save chopping one up etc ............ would have saved me an entire day of looking for one if i had though

now i must be bein a bit dense but isnt there supposed to be a lock ring above the seal ? cant see anything other than the seal??????????

I got the bottom allen bolt out today as the allen socket arrived so getting there slowly............

ive not done seals before tbh but it dosent sound that hard a job and ive a good selection of tools and manuals so giving it a go but any tips more than welcome............

plan on using the old seal to drive the new one into place when it comes to it unless a better suggestion is forthcoming ?

so there apart but inside the stanchion is a little plastic spinny dohicky what is it and does it also need to come out to go into new stanchion or will new one come with it in place?

also anyone got a parts diagram to fzr 600r forks so i can make sure they are all there and all go back in correct order? (found it )
http://oemparts.buymotorcycleparts.com/ ... 9&Action=O

there was no retaining clip by the way there was however some sort of white adheasive all around the inside of the seal

also how long are the trx forks compared to the fzr ones as i think i read somwhere the fzr ones are longer ? if so ill need to have much more showing through the yoke to keep the front down well so how much have all you fzr fork owners got showing ? think my flat bar top yoke might limit how much they can come up though without fouling the bars might have to get some up and back angled risers if thats the case

from memory it was about 10mm difference, if you look on the wemoto site the overall length of the FZR stanchion is either 10mm longer or shorter than the TRX one. I ran the FZR forks on mine with about 25mm above the clip-ons, have since fitted the FZR lowers onto the TRX stanchions and internals (straightforward job no compatability issues) but could do with someone with a standard set of forks measuring the distance from the bottom of the bottom yoke to the centre of the spindle cos I have no idea if I have the fork height correct.
any takers?? :D

well the forks at the moment have got 45mm above the yokes because i had 30mm before and the front was way to light and ive got the yzf dog bones kicking the rear up allready the rear doesnt squat that much but i know i need a stiffer spring on it as its got the Japanese spec spring on it which i think ive read is to soft ? and im far from small..........

still dont know what the little spinny thing inside the bottom of the stanchion is or for or if it comes with a new stanchion or if its a seperate part ?

Are you talking about the plastic bit at the bottom of the stanchion that the bolt goes through or the spinny bit at the top of the stanchion?

If its the former, it's seperate, part #3GM-23173-00, if it's the other bit, it's not listed in the parts manual, so should come with the stanchion.

Parts manual is very handy.
