Leaks, leaks leaks...

Currently, my thermostat housing is leaking every now then, & what I thought was an oil leak from the gearbox, turns out to be a leak in the fuel tap...
I have a replacement o ring for the thermostat housing (hopefully that's all it is), did we ever get to the bottom of the fuel tap itself?
It's leaking from the tap face & also at the 90 degree elbow at the bottom (apparently this is supposed to be connected, it's usually where I remove the hose

)
Digging through some old threads, it seems you can't buy the o ring in the fuel tap, but according to the parts manual, pg 44, part 16 appears to be the o ring in question...
Any ideas?

ANY Viton o-ring of the correct dimensions should do it M.V.
It really needs to be Viton (or another `fuel safe` material) and not Nitrile or the petrol will soften and swell/degrade it.
As you can see there`s plenty of types:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-ring#Material
If you`re struggling try NRP:

The TRX isn`t listed but if they can help they will.

A faulty o ring brought down down the Challenger space shuttle?
With that in mind, I've ordered the o-ring from Yamaha, hopefully that will fix it!

Wasn't it a combination of designers using Imperial and Metric dimensions that fecked the shuttle up? Thats why the o ring failed.

M.V. yes for god sake fix the fuel leak, i told you about my experience in the 'Nongs didn't i?
Fuel on the rear tyre and a hair pin corner makes riding a sphincter tightening exercise.
Oh, also you would start a wheelie thread wouldn't you..... lol
Just did my thermostat housing on Friday, o ring borrowed from spare bike and a mates Engineering work surface to ensure i bought back the faces to flush...... then liberal gasket goop when that still failed and i wasn't taking the f#cking think apart for the 3rd time in an afternoon.
No more leaks though... So far....

Howdy stranger!
Yeah, I remember the story! been riding the mrs ZZ-R250 in the meantime, just need to pop down to PS to pick up the new O-ring, & some spare time to fit

You know how it is!
I'm hoping the thermostat housing itself is still ok, haven't actually checked it out yet...
The wheelies are progressing well, how are yours going?
Edit: Hey, your first post, nice work

Check your PM's too.

Ok, M.V. Got a couple of busy weekends ahead (including a couple thousand k TWF Partee ride) but sometime mid December for a Melb chapter meet? Will post up a separate thread and get everyone to nominate what dates they're available and then just pick the one that gets the most hits.
Sorry to derail this thread.
