Shims - how much?

Post by Corners R Us » Fri Nov 26, 2010 11:08 pm

About to do the valve clearances on my TRX. Anyone know how much shims are, if it needs any?

Cheers, Corner

For a guide price look at the Kedo online catalogue:

http://kedo.de/

Apologies, I cannot see shims on the Kedo online catalogue. :oops:
Quick phone call to your nearest Yamaha dealer is the way to go. :wink:

Also, try asking your bike mechanic if you can trade in your old shims.
I bought 5 shims recently for $20 after trade in.
Black '99: Race Tech fork springs/emulators, R6 Shock, FCR41's, Modified airbox with K&N filter, Omrae carbon mufflers, R1 brakes, Toby steering damper, and;
Black '01: unmodified, 100% original, and;
'95 Import: Track Bike - too much to list

yeah ive heard of the "exchange" thing. Ive got 10 shims spare here. As i have 2 motors.. Ill need to get more later on.

When people get kent cams, or get a cam reground, what size shims are needed ? The yam shims only go so thick..

Got tornado cams and they require thick shims, bought a bag of hotcams shims wich are mostly used on MX bikes.

$12 ea or $9 trade in at my local. It's not worth trading them in for $3 saving...

Hot cams set from the us would be the way to go I reckon.
