Fork seals

Post by Mikerhayward » Sun Dec 05, 2010 6:12 pm

Hi Guys

On my trx forks I have one corroded dust seal and one leaking seal. Can anyone advise if it is possible to change the seals and dust covers without stripping the forks.

Thanks Mick

YES, just be careful not to damage the fork leg `seats` or the chrome on the stanchions/sliders when you prise them out.

Yes it is possible, however it would be a lot easier to strip fully, clean and replace covers, seals, oil and worn components.

Thanks, just needed to know if the seals would come out.

Not prepared to strip the forks for no reason. From my experience fork seals fail far more regularly than bushes. Obviously if they dont come out easily then thats a different matter.

Cheers Mick

Here's a good one. Does anyone know why my post has a spot at 10.00 O'clock.

$19.99 U.S. for a PAIR of dust seals and PAIR of fork seals on e bay from the states.. A complete kit if doing a front end rebuild on both forks. 8) Pyramid??? anyone used these seals before????
I noticed they also have tapered steering head bearings for $25.49 U.S. (only$8 postage to OZ)
I have the pyramid rear brake pads as a token jesture cause they are very rarely used so good value there as such.
May as add these to the spares kit if any good to save on postage I figured so any feedback appreciated
