Battery & Tyres

Input from experts needed ...

1) I've inherited an Optimate. Should it be left connected and switched on permanently or once it's showing 'fully charged' should I disconnect it for a few days / week?

2) Bike has been parked up on paddock stands for the past 5 or 6 weeks. It was fine while it was being ridden regularly but now has a totally flat rear tyre. I traced the leak to the trye bead / wheel rim join after painting the tyre with a weak Fairy Liquid solution.
One side is passing air over about 180° of the circumference, the other side over about 90°.
Pressure is dropping by about 10psi per day.

Anybody recommend a fix ??

1 - I leave all my bikes permanatey connected

2 - if it's losing 10 psi a day, me thinks you need a new tyre? Or it could have contracted in the cold and will seal in warmer weather / when used more often.

"... all my bikes" ... you boasting again Pete?
but thanks for the tips.
Hope you're right about the shrinkage in cold weather ... the tyre is almost new so I don't fancy splashing out another £120
