Hello,ive just reciently got myself a trx i was wondering how you would go about putting two headlights into the one?, i seen a few pictures of a trex's on this site that had it done.

Find/buy a FZR400RR headlight and bolt it on!

....but check out bulb availability before you do. I believe they are hard to come by...thebulbs that is!

And bulbs can be expensive if you do find them. Also some talk of poor light projection from these. Shame as it looks good.

If you need globes / bulbs, my folks and brother run a specialist lighting store in Parramatta. Handy for those in Aus, but they ship overseas too!

hi scotty.
i went to the website to have a look as i just bought an FZR400 3TJ headlight from KEVTRX here in QLD.
can't find a parts list, so i will email them...but if you do happen to have a chat with mum,dad or bro will you please ask if they can supply me an upgrade bulb for this setup?

I have seen a forum where they cut off the spot welds on a standard H4 halogen bulb and fit the FZR bulb backing plate, looked way too fiddly to me.

I am working on an adaptor which will allow me to fit standard H4 bulbs once I have cut off the backing plate and filed down the spot welds. Standard FZR bulbs are a ridiculous price £35 - 40 the pair and not easy to get.

My idea and I don't see why it wont work is to fabricate a backing plate copying the FZR bulb with the three locator prongs. Then solder this on to a short machined sleeve with a grub screw to grip the H4 bulb which has had it's backing plate cut off. just need a bit of machining time

They`re H7`s are they not?
No issues getting them as far as I know and why is anyone paying those sorts of prices? EvilBay do them for around a tenner if memory serves me correctly and even here they can be gleaned for 13 quid a pair:

Ring make them, and sell them in trade packs, it might be worth someone contacting Ring stockists to see if a trade pack could be sourced and then members could buy some spares up cheap.

If you click on the CAP TYPE in blue text you can see it`s the offset tangs that pose the problem. I think if it was me I would modify an H4 or 7 bulb base, cut off the tangs with tin snips and simply drill a small hole in the bulb base ring and the lamp holder for a small self tapping screw to stop the bulb rattling and twisting in it`s holder.

It is very difficult desoldering the base from the FZR bulb, I tried it on a scrap bulb, which is why I am going down the route of fabricating anew bulb holder H4 bulbs are easy to detach the base ring as they are spot welded on. Buggered if I want to pay £16.5 every time I blow a bulb.

The twin projector beam does look very good on the TRX
