Hello

i noticed that theres three allen key bolts that hold the end of the exhaust on, is there anyway to take out the baffle?, as i think its too quiet compared to my dads trx and i dont like the sound, sounds like a ntv600 lol.

The allen bolts just take off the nice looking cover, if you then want to take out the baffles you have to butcher the cans.

Ok, does it sound good butchered like a nice deep tone or is it just raspy?.What kind of exhausts do i look for if i change them.Is it slip-ons or are they all compatible? Thanks

I`m sure there will be some members along that have done it, they can best describe the sound.
As for race cans, well they are all straight through, absorption type baffles so it`s simply their lengths and internal diameters that affect the way the bike may sound and perform.
The aftermarket exhaust business is a bit of a monster, many types of cans simply have an aesthetic effect on the bike and create a more `powerful` sound, although the TRX certainly performs much better with an exhaust system that flows gases more freely.
The big names are the way to go really, although I`ve made my own cans from component parts too, they`re readily available if you know where to look.
Luckily a friend runs `Performance Carbon` he makes some of the cans for many of the big names in the UK, they buy them cheap from him, add 40% plus then go about marketing them to the biking world and get rich!

ok thanks i think i will just invest in a set rather than butchering the stock ones,i can keep the originals for m.o.ting the bike as ive heard some places are strict on noise ,and if i sell the bike on ,as they are in vgc.

I got a second set of stock cans as finding second hand aftermarkets in Aus is not so easy. The noise is much louder. I park near a fellow who has Staintunes on his TRX. The staintunes are overall quiter, softer and more refined. His exhaust burbles at tickover rather than grates. That being said the debafflectomy is a vast improvement over stock. You pays your money and takes your choices!

Just as an add on, my 2 Micron carbons weigh as much as 1 standard silencer.

..but cost more than £10 for a hole saw if you're on a tight budget

I removed one of the baffles on one of the standard exhausts as i was curious.In my opinion it sounds horrible, just really raspy compared to my fathers trx with art cans it on it.Theres no nice deep note or burble or anything, more like a hole in the exhaust ,it is louder but more so in a crude way (makes the bike sound cheap) .So a warning to people who want a nice deep sound, I wouldnt do it.

Agreed, but do it in bafflectomy 2 method and redirect the tubes and the sound improves hugely
