need an alternator cover gasket, do i have to visit my local yamaha dealer (not my favourite establishment!!!!) or pattern available anywhere?

Yep, got one from there last year when my alternator went tits-up, around a tenner if I remember correctly.

cheers, they don't list one on the website , i'll give them a call tomorrow, meantime i'm heading back to the garage to carry on sorting several previous owners bodges!! serves me right for buying a damaged repairable maybe, but it was cheap & i like a challlenge/project

Trust me, there's nothing like the feeling of bringing to live something with your own hands and finding out that if you 'd have bought a runner it would turn out a lot cheaper! This is the fourth time I come to this conclusion

They are listed on their website - bought one 2 weeks ago, £6 + post from memory

you can't say no to a slightly crashed trx with t&t for £550 which is what i had spare at the time but upgrades chucked at it as soon as time / cash allows, it's the first bike i've had for ages that i just want to ride no matter what. ps the missus just bought a bros 650 off ebay in preparation for getting her full licence i've had 2 of them can't wait to have 2 of my favourite bikes parked in my garage

Yep, the 650 Bros is quite a nice little bike, they go bl**dy well in all honesty. One thing I do know about them is they must have the chain adjusted carefully as due to the linkage and the way it works on the rear suspension, overtight chains can be a problem.

bros chain adjustment certainly finicky, made worse if you fit a 'blade shock which is a common mod, mine had a race pipe with a left hand exit so the chain tryed to hacksaw through it
