FCR39 help required - Jetting and airbox/filters

Post by clottyboo » Tue Apr 12, 2011 7:31 pm

Run the search function but cannot trace what I am looking for.

Road bike, running a stock TRX motor, with free flowing exhaust and am fitting FCR39's (from a race bike).

Any advice on good starting point for jetting and whether to run standard airbox or pod/foam filters. Not looking for anything too radical as it is for the road - Am saving the more "edgy" stuff for my Spondon framed TRX/XTZ track day project. :)

Many thanks

Spondon framed, did you buy the one that went through Ebay recently?
Sorry, can`t help much on jetting the 39`s most of us here have gone the 41 route. Mind, from memory I`m running 142 pilot jets and 170 mains in my FCR41s, with seperate foam Ramair pod / sock filters. I intend to do a little experimenting by linking them with a piece of tube though to help even out tickover and slow running in the near future.
You`ll get best power gains with the blue bellmouths and without the airbox, expect up to 10 bhp more at the rear wheel. I got just over 11 with the 41`s.

Thanks for the info. Yep - Currently sorting it, but given the Spondon frame, adjustable yokes, Ohlins shock (now serviced), FCR39's and lightweight wheels it was the basis of a track bike I could'nt resist. Have'nt had it on the scales yet, but it is a really light package.

Always more to do than you think - It had been converted for road use, but fortunately without changes to the frame etc. The original owner (and indeed the guy who sold it to me) have been really helpful. Should be something different form all the R6's etc you always see.

39's are going on the road bike (hence the question), whilst I have some 41's for the track bike that I will run with the Ramairs.

I need to get out more....................................
