Just did the dry build on R1 front end. Evrything will fit however some questions

I have race tech springs and revalved forks on the TRX. The 98 - 00 R1 forks seem very soft compared to my TRX ones and preload is at max any advice - Do I need different springs?

Also how much damping oil do I need - how is it measured and what grade is best.

Help appreciated

You won`t know until you have it done, the bike on the road and you put some miles on her. Depends on loading too, ie your weight.
Best thing to do is suck it and see, you can always contact Racetech, Kais or Maxton etc for advice if you find it all to soft for you.

Strangely Maxton`s link isn`t working for me but it may be my works computer access limitations  :

As for fork oil levels and weights, again you can contact the above or ask the question on one of the Yamaha forums like this one:

It costs you nowt to join and you don`t have to use it much, just to get the information you seek.
There will likely be downloads of R1 / R6 forks available, pictures ,dimensions, specs etc on the forums, just like there is here for the TRX, shhhh.
Oh and you may well enjoy this link and find it useful too :) :
