Compression adjusters just spinning after fork oil change

So I changed the oil out of the forks today, it went something like this:
Remove forks from bike
Remove fork top caps (+ compression adjusting rods)
Remove 2 washers + springs + spacer tube
Drained oil
Refilled oil to spec'd levels
Reinstalled everything in reverse order.

I'm not sure this was the exact way to do it but now my compression damping adjusters just continually turn either in or out and wont seat at min or max settings. There is an associated clicking that goes with the turning now as well that I can hear about halfway down the forks.

I'm assuming the valve assembly is rotating within the forks and not adjusting as it should. I've read if you compress the forks fully this should seat them and stop them from spinning.

Has anyone had this issue before? The forks work fine, no binding or strangeness about them, just can't adjust.

If they're standard TRX forks, that's normal. The rebound adjusters at the top of the preload adjusters have four settings and you can cycle through them, there's no positive stop at the top or bottom of adjustment.

clockwise there are four position clicks, then a dead spot for a bit and it will click again. this is the first position. it repeats ad infinitum.
cheers

I was worried there for a bit thinking I'd fudged that one up. Must have been my old CBR that I was thinking of that would adjust to a stop at each end. The front end is feeling heaps better now its dialed in.

Thanks for the tips guys!
