The rebound adjusters on my forks are set at the '2 clicks' position (always have been) but I am noticing a distinct 'knock' when the suspension extends after compression when I am out riding.
I've discovered that after a ride, if I push on the rebound adjuster it moves a couple of millimetres (doesn't return again)
Is this 'normal' ??

Not sure about the rebound adjusters but have you checked your headstock bearings?

They seem Ok , but I'll have to take the belly pan and stuff off first so I can jack the front end off the ground to get it swinging free first.
Think maybe it's time to drop the forks out and renew the oil so maybe give it a bit of an overhaul then?

Sit astride the bike, put a finger at the gap (top and bottom) between the yokes and the frame headstock tube, pull the front brake on hard and rock the bike back and forth, compress the forks too, then you may well feel the movement (if there`s any) through your fingers.

I'd say almost certainly the knock is loose headstem bearings.

The couple of mm movement on the rebound adjusters is normal. It's just the air pressure build-up inside the forks (from them compressing) pushing the adjuster out to the limit of its play.

Yep ... that's what it was. Couldn't feel any free play or detect any 'rumbles' but NWS suggested headraces as well.
1 gentle (?) tap with a drift on the stem nuts and all is cured.
