located some R1 2008 front calipers and master cylinder.The yamaha book says they should be radial mounted[unsure what that means] Anybody know if they will bolt up to standard trx fork and will I have to get a new disks[310 size]for them

They WON`T fit if they are radial calipers, you would need the radial fork lowers / R1 or R6 forks for the right configuration too.

Wait on, isn't there some adaptor you can buy to mount radial calipers to normal fork legs? I'm sure I saw it here?

I think Quantime made some to fit earlier R1 forks?

Radial caliper mounting bolts have a front to rear configuration where as standard calipers like on the TRX the caliper bolts run side to side if that makes sense. Anyway they wont fit!!!!

Yes you`re right NWS Quan milled some out from ally billet, I seem to remember something about high tensile bolts of the right length and thread pitch not being easy to source.

There's no point in bolting on adapters so you can use radial calipers. You're only adding extra unsprung weight and the calipers are still axial mounted through the original mounting points, with the added disadvantage that the extra mass is further way from the steering axis.

Note, this isn't a dig.

Thanks Chasps,went and bought some 2004 gold spots now just have to work out if I need the master cylinder and a bigger disk

I had the standard rex master cylinder with R1 brakes, they worked OK but felt a bit wooden, TRX master cylinder is 5/8 - 16mm, R1 item is 14mm. The R1 M/C makes the brakes feel loads better. More feel and power - awesome

Think i made the same point last time this was raised - wish my description was as concise as yours
