Is my bike an import?

I hadnt noticed until i road my bike for the first time the other day, that my clocks are KM/h with MPH as a minor unit.
I'm curious if my bikes a UK bike or an import, although my V5 does state declared new at first registration.
How would i know if its an import?
I assume my VIN number could give it away but have no idea what makes it uk or not.
the first part of the vin reads: JYA4UN000*******
Shouldnt it be 4UN3?
Anyone able to clarify?

4UN indicates that it is a UK model - all early models came with KPH speedos

There's nothing wrong with owning an import

Imports are cool

As long as you change the CDI

I had this on my bike and found a little converter unit from M&P that goes in the speedo cable
Makes it a lot easier to read mph

Yes, there is that small issue

Other than that, what have the Romans ever done for us?

(beat Cobba to the Monty Python reference there!)

Australian Bikes have a Vin number starting with JYA4XGTO
Both my bikes are 99 models one being 2/99 the other 6/99 The tenth number along the Vin being an x which denotes 99(year of manufacture)

Indeed, every last riceburner is a Japanese import unless they`re sold in Japan.

Here`s an interesting wee resource:

My SR500 is a 2J2 or 2J4 being of 1978 vintage.

I don`t know how this will work but worth a try:
