Help, no go!

My TRX has been off the road a number of years and am slowly getting it fettled. Did the forks/oil/seals yesterday but today a major problem.
Engine runs great but once I engaged gear it would stall. I assumed sticky clutch so I gave it a bit more revs and tried again, a crunch was heard. Now when I start the bike and engage gear it simply cuts out.
Dodgy neutral switch? Any ideas? Hope it's nothing nasty in the gearbox. Gears engage fine.
Thanks
Ron

As our XS2 riding friend suggests, take a look at the switch situated under the side stand. Do a search as there are mods to remove it completely on here.

X3 on the sidestand switch buddy.
Theres a safety feature whereby if you put her in gear and the sidestand is still down, it will cut the engine so you cant ride off. Obviously yours thinks the sidestand is still down when its not.
