Has anybody ever replaced the altetnator on a trx
Had the AA out to find the prob and its bad news
Is it easy......nightmare.....or do I just shoot myself

try the search for it Eddie, if you cant find it there might be a download of it somewhere if not the I might be able to scan the haynes section for you, might give you an idea whats involved, dont suppose it will be too hard though,...

60 quid, you`ll likely not find cheaper. Got one on mine, the leads are simply joined by crimps inside the small `void` in the upper right hand corner of the alternator cover.
I also put silicon in the crimps before crimping them onto the wires, stops any oxidisation of the wires occurring.
The original wiring goes into the cover, even the wiring grommet can be left in place.

Just fitted the new stator
As mincehead said ..easy peasy lemon squeeeezy

Bike seems to be charging now
Left it to idle for twenty mins with
Full beam on and batterys not flat

you might want to actually check it's charging with a multi

As Phuk says, check it with a multi meter, you should get between 13 and 14 volts, maybe a shade over, with the engine running.
A visual check is easy too, start the bike, put the headlight on and then gently rev the motor, you`ll see the light brighten slightly if she`s charging.
Never the less, checking the voltage output is the best way.

Ain't got a multi so I can't check it
I tried what you suggested mincehead
And every time I increase the revs the
Headlight brightens
So I'm crossing my fingers

Sounds good but drop by any Halfords, they`ll check the charging rate for free.
