Yamaha TRX850 Enthusiasts Forum

I need a new set of brake pads for my blue spots. Any suggestions on which are best for normal road use? Is there a particularly good source for them in Australia? The way the dollar is at the moment then it may even be cheaper to buy them overseas.

I've got Sintered Metal Gear pads in at the moment, $25 per caliper vs $50 per caliper for Ferodo sintered....

Very happy with them, absolutely no complaints.

The blue (organic) Brembos work very well for me in my blue spots - what a coincidence ...

Seriously, many recommend the red (sinter) Brembos, but I prefer the blue ones - even and especially on the race track as well as on the road.

What differences do you find between the organic & sintered pads? I find my sintered pads have much more initial bite than organic pads...

... to be honest I didn't try sinter pads on the TRX yet. Once I tried them on my CX 500 Euro they improved the braking but have eaten up the discs very fast!
... the CX 500 Euro disks may not be designed for sinter pads ...

As I'm very content* with the organic Brembos I have no reason to change and can recommend them from my experience.
* some people find it incredible how late one (= I) can brake at the end of the straights on a race track ; but this may also depend on the rider

They make the brake very controllable and have a really good bite, too, when you need it!
I think that's the advantage of the organic ones compared to the sinter ones.

I currently have a CX 500 Shadow in my shed that a learner mate & I are doing up, I took it for a test ride last night, the brakes were... um... scary, I think would best describe!

I don't know what the pads are made out of, but they are the same ones that were on it when I owned it two or three years (& 20 000 klms) ago! Possibly Granite...
