r6 shock wheel travel

Has anyone who has fitted the r6 shock measured the available wheel travel. Thinking of going that route, but reducing wheel travel by much is not a good thing for my favorite local roads.

Dunno mate, I've been thinking the same thing... Not that I've ever bottomed out the TRX shock...

I haven't compared them side by side, but the R6 shock does have a lot less travel. Perhaps the high speed damping evens the score & it's not an issue?

Its a wet tropics thing. Around here big potholes can appear on the line overnight, especially in the wet season. You need to set up your bike to survive the big hit. An inch of available travel can be the difference between a change of underwear or a trip into the bush.

like MV said this is where your low/hi speed comp comes into play.. just remember the spring rate on the shock 06/07 red spring is for an 80 odd kg person and I have a feeling someone mentioned these also may be a progressive spring where the silver 09 model is a linear spring( check the racetec site to chase this info)

False alarm.

I just put my R6 shock in, I measured the travel of each, it appears to be identical. The rubber bumber on the R6 is a little longer, but the shaft is the same length.

Folks, on the downloads section of the forum, suspension travel is given (for the stock TRX obviously)
