Axial VS Radial 'spot' calipers

A quick question, from my research I have found that the R1 went from axial m/c & calipers in 2003 to radial m/c & radial calipers in 2004, given the part numbers for the pistons, seals, etc are the same for both calipers, they would be essentially the same brake caliper in terms of performance, just different in mounting?

If so, we could use the 16mm Radial M/C from the 2004 R1 (which is a cast Brembo unit) & available at Partshark for $100 USD? (Or $150 if you want the lever, mounts, screws, brake light switch, et al, but not fluid reservoir)

Anybody?

You can indeed use ANY radial master cylinder, the later Yamaha O/E stuff (likely Brembo too as I think Yamaha now own them and Marchesini wheels) will give the same results, if not better than the old (non radial) R1 master cylinders.
I had a suzuki GSXR radial caliper mated to the TRX when I first got her, Pazzo levers and made a small `blade` to operate a brake light switch, drilled and tapped two M3 holes in the Pazzo lever to secure it and fitted an aftermarket brake lamp switch under the caliper instead of having an inline pressure type. Made the caliper and bars look much neater.
I`ll be using this type on my current rebuild with a matching clutch mount / lever too:

Didn`t pay the prices they want for new though.
