2:nd gear jumps off

Hi,
I have the 1997 year T-rex and have problem with the gearbox. If i change gear from first to second in high rpm the gear jumps to neutral. This is quite frustrating everytime it occure.
I have tried to find the answer while searching the web. Has anyone else noticed the same problem with the TRX? I know the early R1 has the same problem.
Do i need i new gearbox and what will this cost me to get it repaired?
Thx.

Every now and then when i´m not firm enough, it got much better when changing to race pattern...easier to firmly push down.

As Kw says, firm pressure and a little more `patience` will normally be all that`s required. Big twins often suffer from this 1st to 2nd gear vagueness.
Learn how to use the box and the power characteristics and TRX gearboxes generally give little problems.
Were you used to inline fours before getting your TRX?

just before you change up to second, put gentle pressure under the shifter to "load' it up, then change.
Factorypro make a shifter kit, which replaces the plain bush selector arm behind the clutch basket with a roller bearing selector arm.
its a common part between fzr1000 and trx, so you need to supply the clutch cover gasket yourself, as it comes with the fzr gasket.
only heard good things about it, and it will be one of my next additions.
cheers

Hello people,
I was also thinking about this mod, is there anyone on here that has done it?
What was the result?
Thanks,
Pete

I wouldn't put any pressure on it before you shift - that's probably why the box jumps in the first place - loading it puts undue wear on the selector forks.
