Hi everyone,
I have just put my trx on sorn for the winter and now am thinking about sorting a couple of things out on my bike.
The most important thing is the front end, my bike has a set of Ducati forks fitted to it, they are too short and cause the bike to shake the bars when cornering hard. I want to improve this but I dont want to swap forks, would lowering the rear make a difference? also I have been thinking about lowering the top yoke by using a thinner nut, and dropping forks through the bottom yoke which will raise the front end slightly. any input would be greatly appreciated.

I can see from your location why you've SORNed it

Lowering the rear will help as will raising the yokes as high as you can - depends what you want from the bike - too low and it'll drag it's undersides.

I know of a set of Thundercat forks and mudguard ready to bolt on not a million miles from you - well 239 miles to be precise and on the right side of the Border............................

just a thought but have you looked at changing the top yoke as some honda top yokes (fireblade) are stepped so if you can find one with the correct offset then you may gain some length. when i fitted r6 forks to my trx i had to fit the bars under the top yoke rather than on top to get the correct length as the r6 forks are shorter than the trx ones.

Ha ha, yes its covered in snow here , I am going to dust off my kx for some winter fun.
My trx already scrapes the hugger on some corners. Do you know if there is much difference in fork length between Trx and thundercat forks? also how much?

Virtually the same length from memory - Kayla will be along to confirm I'm sure.

I will get some pictures tomorrow night when I go to my shed. I am thinking about an extension that screws into the top of my fork, then I could lower them no bother. If only I had a lathe

Just had a bit of a search on the net, the forks on my bike are 765mm long.. I think

I measured the fork length of my bike today, 73.5cm and the top of the forks is 5cm higher than the top bearing cap, can anyone tell me what a standard bike is please?

800mm from the centre of the axle to the top of the fork leg. That does not include the cap.
