Went out for a ride today and covered more distance than usual. After a 30 min motorway stretch up on slowing down I could hear a catching/clicking noise coming from the front end. This noise only happens when bike is rolling in or out of gear. If I stop for a bit and carry on with my journey it takes a few miles before the noise starts up again. One of the guys who was with me has checked wheel for bearing play, , brake pads and cables and says everything looks fine. Any of you guys got any idea what it could be?.

Probably the pads in the caliper rattling at slow speed mine does that but only on the left lol

does the noise stop if you hold the brakes on lightly?

No it doesn't go away. It seems what ever the noise is that it it has to warm up due to friction or something like. Wonder if the speedo drive cable can make noise like this if it needs greasing??

possibly, the speedo drive has pawls that engage with the hub.
maybe a broken one floating?
sound is a funny thing, so you might check your drive chain for dryness, a tight link, stretch or the start of hooking on the front sprocket.
this will get louder as the chain and bits warm up.

The chain and sprockets are quit new and the tension is correct as I checked it the other day. You might be right about chain dryness. The thing is I've got some of this dry chain lube and no mater how much I put on just a few miles down the road and it seems like its disappeared... I'll get some proper sticky oil and try that. Not convinced thats the fault but will try it anyway

Something loose, mudguard? Horn?

Tried taking off the front wheel and putting it back on?

Tape/zip tie up each cable in turn for a mile and see if it stops
