anyone tried this www.sealmate.net have a slight leak on one fork seal worth a try ?? available from dirtbikebitz.com for just under a fiver looks to good to be true

Well, now you`ve seen the video why not just make one from a discarded plastic milk carton, for FREE?
I`ve had something similar for years made from a piece of PTFE sheet, it`s in the bottom of an old tool box somewhere. The important thing is to make certain the edges are smooth but as long as it`s thin and flexible kinda anything that won`t scratch the slider or cut the lip in the seal will work. I knew a bloke who swore by poking terylene fly line backing past the seal all round with a piece of plastic then pulling it back out. Stuff like this:

All this is fine and dandy if you`ve not got an already damaged seal or pitting on the slider in the travel zone, if you have there`s no alternative than to strip the forks.

cheers mincehead bit worried about trying it in case it makes it worse as its so slight a leak only ridden the bike 50 miles since i got it.

Why bother with doing anything about it at this point if it`s so slight? If you keep it always in mind whenever you stop or get off the bike just wipe any seepage that may be there with a cloth or tissue?
I remember lifting conical dust seals and actually placing strips of clean rag underneath them to `wipe` the slider every time it moves for months before actually replacing fork seals over the years, tricks of the trade and all that.
If the seepage is so slight the risk of fork oil getting on any of the braking surfaces is small although beware, fork seals occasionally let go in a big way.

To replace the front seals in a TRX is a very easy job......... really.

can the seals be replaced without pulling them apart and just slipping them over the top of the fork ????

Start by looking at page 229 onwards on the TRX service manual in the downloads section of the forum (via board index).

Dont be such a lazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzy bastard Cobba... I could prob have the forks off and the seals done in the time it takes you to root around trying to get the old ones out and the new in using your method

Air or power tools are useful to get the damper rod undone and done back up again though Stank, wouldn`t you agree?

good thought Fung... don't have a workshop as such anymore or a licience for another 2 and 1/2 mths. The girls can talk about dishwashing liquid and I wouldn't mind quizin macca about trackdays and maybe seeing who's keen .
Lakeside you need thee trackdays under your belt to go around there. Didn't need that 30yrs ago and bit hard to proove those track days which only cost $20.
Willowbank is another option or Morgan Park. Theres some champion ride days at willowbank for $149 with tuition on a weekday or $189 on a weekend.

Gotta love you blokes,, looks like now I am doing the fork seals,, how did that happen Yerr Mince I have the socket and a compressor for those it makes the job so easy.. Get out to the track Cobber its a ton of fun!!

Don't worry mate...The fork seals not on the urgent list, it's just on one of the spare pairs of forks I have.
