Hi everyone!

How important is the quality of the oil filter?
I found these on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-Oil-Filter ... 4493wt_895

That sounds really cheap so I'm not expecting them to be fantastic quality, but then I started wondering what that really means in an oil filter anyeay?

for the couple of dollars more you pay for an OEM (yamaha) filter, i feel that at least you have some recourse if it doesn't do its job.
use a good oil (motul 5100 etc), put it in the right way up , use new o-rings (big one and little one) and sump plug washer, and don't overtighten the bolts.

For yrs I've used aftermarket filters and 10w40 blended synth/org whatevers on special motor oil from supercheap and alike.
I change oil every 3 to 4000km and thats oil and filter and the bikes done 115,000km. I will use between 500ml to a litre in a change and it gets riden hard on quite a few occasions.
As long as those changes(oil and filter together) are keep up regularly I found was the key for all my motors over the years.
The money you save using these items goes towards buying top quality chain/sprockets which is so well worth every cent..

Never been there, is that where they grow palm oil

Virtually ALL oil filters meet standards, but hey you pays your money you makes your choice . I buy mine in bulk at Halfords because all three of my bikes use the same filter.
Halfords champion filters come with a pair of new O rings too by the way.
