Green Stuff

On pulling apart some of the block connectors I noticed some of them have a Green residue inside them. Could anyone tell me what this is.

probably copper corrosion/ oxidisation if its dry
might be some sort of protective fluid/spray if its like a really thick fluid? i

Green residue is copper oxide, the terminals need a good clean. You could use a cotton bud with a mild acid like say vinegar or lemon juice to gently lift off the oxidisation, then rinse them with water and again apply a silicon spray or contact cleaner to make sure they are dry and protected from any further `weathering`.
