best way to pull the water pump

i have a slight weep coming from the water pump , i have read stories about a shim being easy to knock off when removing the pump what is the best way to pull it wihout this happening???

Just carefully, residual oil film will very likely hold it in place if you`re careful. :wink:

what happens it drops ? can i be fished oot with a magnet , or is it a strip down job ?

Seems to be the season for these. Mine was leaking slightly early last week. It stopped for a whole 10 days, then this morning I notice its leaking again.
