Brake Pad Retaining Pin (Sumitomo "Grey")

Does anyone know what size the head on the Brake Pad Retaining Pin(s) are on the standard TRX Sumitomo "Grey" calipers?

I was trying to give the pistons a good clean yesterday, but couldn't get the pins out (need to replace the rear pads too). Tried a 5mm socket, which was too small, then tried a 5.5mm socket which was too big.

Would hazard a guess that the head is 5.25mm, but can I find a spanner or socket of that size???

Anyone got any pointers to get the pins out (other than BF&I or Blue Spots (which are not an option just now!)).

Bit of 3in1 oil, tap with a hammer, then get the R pin out, replace with a small bar of some sort and use it to lever/twist. Has worked for me.

Did you try Imperial / AF sockets?
You can always use snipe nosed mole / vice grips too, and the `lube them up and twist` approach is the way forward.

Don't think I've got anything that small in AF sizes. I think a scour through the toolbox is in order!

It's either that or out with the pliers!

The pins are not threaded, just have a hex head to spin them with.
you can drift them from the other side
on reinstall, use a little copper 10 on the shaft.
