Anyone running BarkBusters or facsimile handguards? Comments and or suggestions?

On a dirt bike - yes.

But presume you mean on a TRX?

Other than looking a bit weird and possibly fouling the fairing, I can't see any reason why you couldn't - although I'm not convinced there is anywhere to attach them on standard clip ons?

I suffer from Raynaud's Syndrome - the dreaded white finger, and even with half decent gloves and Oxford heated grips, it's still pretty difficult to do some serious riding in Winter. Got an 800k run up to Bathurst in a couple of weeks, then 500ks on to Candelo day two, then 600ks back to Melb day three. Plenty of mountains to cross and usually pretty damn cold and wet, so I was thinking maybe keeping my hands dry and the air flow off them might help. Ok, so maybe BarkBusters aren't the solution, do they still make handlebar mits? The kind you leave attached to the 'bars?

Yes, Oxford make them. I have a pair here, but I wouldnt recomend them. I used them on my GSX1400, if it was windy or I got over about 120 they pushed the front brake lever back enough to make me think the motor was losing power.
I would be thinking more along the line of heated gloves. They could be off the bike battery or batterys in the glove themselves.
I intend to get some for my very long runs, preferably wired to the bike.

Try a set of over gloves from Andy Strapz, they have helped me in the wilds of Tassie.

Thanks Big Al, I'll give those Andy Strapz overgloves some serious thought. He makes some good stuff and the factory's not all that far from where I work.

There's plenty of heated gloves available in the UK Dave. Perhaps some our Northern pals and gals can give you the lowdown on the best ones.

Went down to Andy's factory yesterday, met the man and grabbed a pair of OverGluvzzz. Will report on how these work out when I get back next week.

Well it pissed down all the way to Bathurst and back. I threw my normal gloves away in disgust just after the start of the Olympic Way, they were totally waterlogged. Switched over to my summer gloves inside the OverGlovez and these just filled up with water and kept it in. After about 30 minutes I could tip out around half a glass of water from each Glove. Mind you, it was coming down that hard, that I doubt anything would have stayed dry. I was lucky to have a change of dry clothes at the end of the day, but then the wet-weather covers of the DryRider panniers lost their water-proof coating as a result of heat soak from the exhaust pipes, so I had no dry clothes at the end of day 2, but at least had somewhere to dry them. Threw the covers away too, next time I'll just put my gear in plastic bags inside the panniers. "DryRider", yeah sure.

Replace the bar ends with those that use an expanding cam / bolt and route the bolt through the muff so it can't move

Sorry bout the bum steer Dave. I've had no probs with mine. That includes some very wet days here, Tassie and South Aust.
I do wear waterproof gloves tucked inside sleeves then overgloves over the sleeves and cinched up tight, I think the instructions say to tuck them inside sleeves though. I also wear Tiger Angel Gaurdian suit, its waterproof leather and has been the best investment for long distant touring as I dont have to stop long, just to put the overgloves on. I also use waterproof boots all the time.
Electric heating will be my next investment for long distance travels as I start early and into the night.

Thanks Pete, I gave them away last week to a friend with GS BMW, his problem now.

Bark busters make a kit for sports bikes that just attaches to the end of the clip-on, they work very well indeed. One of my riding mates has a set and he swears by them, he suffers from low blood pressure, so circulation to the hands is an issue and he really feels the cold........although i still call him a softcock

The kit he uses is the "Storm S5"
