saw the recent post,my speedo just stopped,have had a look,the cloth meter[tabs ] look ok but the white plastic ring they hook into has seized,and the metal tabs have caused grooves.anyone know if this is part 6[retainer clutch] or am i unlucky and have to order part 11[gear unit assembly] which has the seized white plastic bit and i can see a plastic worm drive the end of the speedo fits into.
the diagram is D15 on the parts manual.
any help appreciated

Has anyone pulled the retainer clutch out to check the worm drive.? is it easy and does it stuff the worm drive.Bying the whole gear hub is AUD $130,the clutch meter and retainer clutch plus oil seal are $30

Try the wreckers on Kewdale Rd, the've wrecked a few TRX's.

I removed the plastic clutch meter and found the worm drive is steel so only need the $30 option,interestingly in the gear hub the metal bit the plastic bit spins on was not very smooth with some crud build up so used some 1200 wet and dry to polish.It may be worth all trx owners having a look at there speedo drive and ordering a plastic bit while yamaha still stock them

I fixed my speedo drive with a new clutch meter (the metal bit with the tabs). $7 from causeway Yamaha.. Maybe they got the price wrong?

Lucked out,the white plastic bit that the clutch meter tabs drop into is shot and I have to purchase the wh0le clutch hub $120

ebay or a wreckers should get you a big discount on the new price....

ordered the new part from yamaha as time was of the essence,the new gear hub has a metal gear,the one that seized was plastic,so i wonder how long the little metal tabs will go spinning a steel wheel[they look a bit under engineered],I wonder if this was a yamaha upgrade?
