Strange scraping noise

Hi there
Just recently my TRX has started making a strange scraping noise that (I think) is coming from the front end (hard to tell with a helmet on) above about 10mph, and only after I've done about 10 miles. It's definitely wheel related, as it does it with the engine off, but I really can't tell where it's coming from. It sounds like something scraping the inside of the mudguard, or possibly the pads/discs, although putting on the brakes doesn't stop it. Equally, it may be coming from the back... hugger maybe? I can't see anything that could be rubbing when I stop and have a look - it's recently had Metzeler Z8 Interacts put on it (which I love) - could they be expanding that much when warmed up?
Really at a loss - i don't think it's dangerous, but when it gets louder than the Art cans it's a bit embarrassing....
Cheers
Simon

Rusty speedo cable? Does the speedo needle stay still? Mine has made noise for a few thousand miles and has just recently started to make the needle waggle about, time for a new one..

Otherwise what about the chain? Or perhaps the front sprocket is knackered?

Do you have stands to lift it and turn the wheel/s? My blue-spot pads make a subtle but odd sound on the wave discs sometimes (new pads & discs). I've checked closely quite a few times. Everything secure. Bike stops hard enough to smack me on the butt when needed. Just seems the pads maybe don't return properly sometimes?

Snod - it was indeed the speedo cable! On the way home last night, it was doing it again and then suddenly stopped. I looked down at the speedo, and yes, it had stopped working. It's actually a pretty new cable (3 months) so I reckon it's actually the mechanism in the speedo. Time for a new cable and some WD40 i think.....(Brett, i have had that with the blue spots too, i just have to keep the pistons clean and it seems ok)
Cheers both

What brand of cable did you buy Gibbon? Just interested as I'm in the market and would like it to last more than three months!

It was an OEM Yamaha one.... I don't think it was the cable's fault, seems to be the speedo itself, so will try to get some lubrication in there. Just ordered another cable on eBay (new - OEM). Only 9 quid with free delivery at the moment.
