Clutch Squawk

The other day I was fuk'n around while waiting at a red light with my buddies. I revved the engine to about 6k and and let the clutch out hard when the light turned green. I was afraid the bike would wheelie, so I only let the clutch out for a moment. Well, it turned out that the clutch hardly grabbed at all, and instead made an ugly squawking or honking sound. I pulled the clutch in quickly and closed the throttle, and then stepped down on the shifter again (it was already in gear) fearing that I had either broken my transmission or clutch. When I let the clutch out at low rpm, the bike ran fine and there was no more noise from the clutch.
So my question is this: Is it normal for a TRX to make noise when one abuses the clutch, or is this a sign of impending clutch death?
