Delkevic TDM headers on a TRX?

Post by Kayla » Sat Aug 01, 2009 8:17 am

Will this mess up the power of my bike?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Delkevic-TDM850-9 ... 286.c0.m14

and do you reckon it'd fit?

I'm guessing that they're the same bore as the standard TRX headers. I'm just wondering, that's all :D

As the cylinders are the same then I'd say they are bound to fit.

But you'd have to make up some pipework to connect to ths can. TRX is 2 into 2 as standard, as you know.

Thanks. I might give it a try when pay day comes around :D Not the same as a 2-1 Akrapovic, I know :( but should still save a few kg off the bike :)

I assume that you've seen the advert from Philk?

Compared to a stock TDM that is. I also thought that I've read somewhere the "bigger" diameter TDM headers are the same as a TRX stock (38 mm). In other words, the standard headers of a TDM are even thinner than the ones from a TRX. But I'm not sure about this.

Yes, but £700 is a fair chunk more than £95...

Understeer - when you hit the fence with the front of the bike.
Oversteer - when you hit the fence with the rear of the bike.
Horsepower - how fast you hit the fence.
Torque - how far you take the fence with you.

Whoa!!!!

TDM headers won't fit a TRX!

The TRX engine is canted slightly further forward in the frame compared to a TDM, so the headers are shaped (curved) differently.

I've got both bikes, and tried to swap the headers over "just to see" and take it from me, they are not interchangeable. If you fit the TDM headers to a TRX motor in the TRX frame, then the outlet of the headers (which is a single outlet on the TDM, not twin outlets like the TRX) is hard up against the starter motor behind the sump. TRX headers won't even go under a TDM, as they foul on everything under the engine, left pipe wants to be where the chain is, right side hits the frame....
