Been lazy & got out of the habit of checking in for a while.... time to fix that. My TRX needed a bit of TLC as well.... time to fix that, so at close to 109,000km I have just reshimmed my valves ( local Adelaide Yamaha shop Pitmans quite happy to sell shims on exchange, even adding that "younger riders don't do that stuff at home anymore...." thanks, I think), changed my chain & sprockets ( 530 conversion is the way to go, over 2 times the life of the 525 stock size), getting my rear shock refreshed (it already has an uprated Eibach spring & RaceTech goldvalve internals), check & repack all the swingarm linkages & bearings and fresh fork oil, plus a new set of my tyre-de-jour, Dunlop RoadSmarts.
Now my bike is no trailer-queen and even though the clocks read 08737 there is little doubt, visually, its on its second lap. Having said that the old girl is holding up well. Unlike you europeans we in Oz dont have salted roads to corrode our bikes but my '96 model Red paint is fading in a patchwork style from the sun and there are numerous marks on the tailpiece from strap-on luggage.
Ahh well.Next on the agenda is to sort out my carbs as I am finally falling victim to the worn emulsion tube syndrome, put kit through or replace the front master cylinder and replace ( again...
) the steering head bearingsI was looking around for another bike but the GFC put paid to that, the silver lining in that cloud is how much I enjoy my TREX....
