thats a lot mate, whats the compression like?

mine used 3litres when the GF rode it 2200miles around europe a couple of weeks ago, i consider that within tolerance for these engines
TRX850 1997 - sunny day twisty toy
TDM900 2003 - commuting tool
TDM850 mk1 - scratching & touring
Z750 hardtail - project
gone but not forgotten : - XTZ750, GS500, GS125

What sort of riding do you normally do?
Dave
hi dave,me riding is a bit hard go out with a few friends r1s blackbirds ect, mind you only the r1 does me on the twisties  going to go out on me own this weekend and keep the horns in if i can and see what happens
I noticed with mine, even 10 years ago, that it drank the most on motorways. Type of riding can make a difference, so if you combine your fast riding with perhaps checking the oil cold, you might be overestimating consumption. Mine drank sh*tloads but didn't really smoke either and had no leaks.

Why not sell it on e-bay and then buy another AFTER checking out its oil consumption. :)

edit: also, are you sure you don't overfill habitually (see above about getting the level wrong when checking cold)? Could explain why you are using a lot.
