Doing a full engine rebuild.
Is there a decent Gasket set available ?
Should I go with genuine Head gasket ?
Valve stem seals , genuine or is there a decent patern ?
Plus anything else you think I should or should'nt be doing ?
Thanks.

I'd go with genuine where possible. I rebuilt mine with an Athena head gasket but it kept leaking, bought a genuine Yamaha one and it cured the leak straight away

Heard quite a lot of bad press on Athena stuff. I've tried a few aftermarket bits'n'bobs, some are ok but most are just not worth using.. Go genuine Yamaha, it'll cost you more but you'll only need to do the job once

yes I pretty much agree
You can chance it with clutch and stator cover gaskets, but for others, like the oil tank, head etc to headache of having to go back in and replace the gasket is significant.
With the oil tank, I had a to go in and sort it twice, in the end I used a genuine gasket , cleaned all the threads and used thread lock on the bolts. Mine seemed to vibrate those bolts loose and I would get an oil leak

I agree with the previous two posters, Head - genuine + tappet cover coz Athena ones are shite. Also anything really crucial that will involve a major teardown to replace, The rest - the Athena ones were OK
