Pinging Noise In 4TH Gear @ 4 to 4500 revs under load

Have had the TRX for 6,000ks now and have really enjoyed it.
About 4 weeks ago I gave her a good going over/service, and to my dismay when i went for my first ride after this trixy had a strange noise like pinging but only in 4th gear @ 4 to 4500 revs under light load,
I checked everything, would try one thing,go for a ride and still hear that bloody pinging noise. It almost drove me mad with all sorts of thoughts going through my mind.As a last resort I was going to take trixy into a bike shop and have the valves checked even though they had only been done 4.000 ks ago.I,d read all about problems with heads/cams/valves on various sites and was thinking the worst when I decided to go for one more ride.Off I went being carefull.I went to 4,500 in 4th and heard the noise.Shit I was somewhat peed of.took her home and parked her in the garage. This particular trx is fitted with some well known aftermarket cans and I had noticed that the exhaust clamp on the left hand siide where the can joins the headers had cracked and bought a new one wich I set about replacing. When I took it off I noticed some scuffing on the inside of it.I replaced it with the new one and positioned it differently.Guess what? When I took it for a ride the noise was gone. What a relief. I looked down at the clamp only to see that the chain just so happened to flex sideways at 4-4.500 rexs in 4th gear and surmise that it was hitting the clamp.HOO BLOODY RAY .Noise all gone and I,m a happy camper again.
Having owned many motorcycles over a period of 30 odd years I can honestly say that Trixie has a personality of her own and makes motorcycling fun even at times like this.
I have only taken the time to relay this story because it could save some fellow bretheren the same time/trouble that I went through, and they can go out and enjoy a ride on their trixy.
