TRX vs TL1000s - anyone got any opinions?

It's a bit quiet on here so......
I think it must be boredom or that it's new year or something but I keep thinking that I want to change my bike. I love my TRX but I find myself lusting over a TL1000s. Question is, are they any good?....and would I end up regretting getting rid of my TRX? Does anyone know what it's like to own the suzuki and how it would compare with the TRX? I already know all the facts and figures but what's it like to have one day in day out?

If changing go for TLR.
Never rode the sukka meself but from what i heard/read the comparison in rideability is huge...TRX being a go-cart and TL a tank....with tankslaps.

Go RSV....put a turbo or supercharger on it and you have an affordable and very much drivable bike with ~170-180HP

Sure you can get the TL to boogie along, but its jsut a monster. Its like riding a baby elephant. You never really know what to expect.

My brother owns one and I've ridden it from time to time and can honestly say that its got heaps more grunt,feels bigger and heavier,heaps harder on the body and doesn't go round corners like trixie.Ok so i'm biased ,but it would take something more than the Suzook to get me to change.Also it has nowhere near the character of trixie and seems to need more maintenance than trixie to keep it crisp.Have you thought about a VTR1000?A mate of mine had one and I enjoyed riding it more than the Suzook.

My neighbour owned a TL1000R for a while, he sold it for a VTR purely because of it's uncompromising riding position, hard ride and wayward handling (rotary rear shock). He did however miss the (in his words) "stupidly brilliant engine".

TRX's are very chuckable, thrashable and... umm able! do you really want something faster but ultimately more boring?

put some decent suspension on your bike and it will be transformed ,,yes trx could do with a bit more power it needs 100bhp but that Suzuki is a barge in comparison,it has loads more power but handling is at worst dangerous and at best only just good enough,if you really want to change save up and get a ktm superduke

I rode a TLS from a dealer. Maybe it was a bad example, but it just seemed like a cobbled together pile of shit. Really didn't have the killer oomph I expected. Crap brakes.

My mate has got one kncoking out 135bhp at the back wheel and has spent a small fortune on Ti parts etc to lighten it.

It pulls like nothing else I've ridden (apart from his nitros Gixxer thou ). Build quality ain't that bad and you get suzuki's engine and gearbox.

Because of all the mony he's spent, it even goes round corners OK.

They've certainly got a bit of a cult following so there can't be that much wrong I guess.......................just like a TRX! Maybe it was just a bad one I rode.

I have owned both a TLS and a TRX and ridden a few TLR's....

TLS's are definately not cobbled together. They handle pretty good and are fookin' fast.... Here's me back in '97!



Saying that they are prone to 3rd gear failure (just fixed my mates TLR for this - complete engine strip job) and main bearings if you do lots of wheelies

If you must do it get an early TLS (later ones had less pokey ignitions fitted to calm them down) and get shot of the standard sterering damper for a nice aftermarket one to avoid the steering through treacle effect.... TLR's are too fat and heavy IMHO.... Oh and prepare yourself for new rear tyres in 700 miles if you like going fast!

EDIT ... Or better still; chuck a couple of grand at your TRX's engine and suspension for the best of both worlds!

My pals TLs puts out the same as pete,s mate and its the most awesome thing ive ridden, i still lust after one now. Ridden allsorts of rockets eg zx12, busa, gtr1400 but nothing has ever compared to the brute force of the TL.

Once the cars paid off next year and pukka one will be purchased by myself asap, the shock did get alot of bad vibes but as long as you know how to handle the mentalness then your cool. Personally i thought it was fooking great fun!!!!!

After market shocks by Maxton If I remember, plus aftermarket steering damper. Engine is awesome, wheelies guaranteed in the first 3 gears with a twist of the wrist. I did look at them before the TRX, but in the real world the TRX is better and goes round corners without a fight.
