Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself, just brought a TRX!! Other than the obvious are there any major faults/probs I should be looking out for?

hi :hello2:

Make sure the oil is at a good level, check it properly every time you use the bike and you shouldn't have any problems. Hopefully the previous owner knew how to check it too.

Like Youngy says, as most of them burn lots of oil (don't worry, it's just Yamaha's patented "total loss lubrication system"), don't fill it up and then check the level 3,000 miles later just before you change the oil. And since many a TRX comes without a manual these days, don't forget the SECOND drain plug when changing the oil.

The only other consistent thing from a mechanical perspective is the emulsion tubes (needle jets) getting worn out by the needles, which results in loss of power followed by non-starting. This basically will happen at some stage, but depending on how many miles you do and how your bike's set up (DJ kit? Factory pro kit? stock?), it may not happen during your ownership. If you feel the need, put "emulsion tubes" into the search function on the site for the achingly boring details.

Otherwise, stuff doesn't really break.
