I am resporaying my TRX after a rebuild and am having difficulties settling on a colour combination. At this stage I am thinking:

Fairings - Black
Frame - Gun-Metal Grey
Wheels - Black
Swingarm - Not sure whether to powder-coat or not....

I have searched and not been able to find a thread along these lines, so what do you consider a good colour combination. This could be standard and/or aftermarket. Pictures would help to support your statement also.

Whatever you decide to do, for goodness' sake don't polish any exposed ally cos it looks rubbish.

If it was me, which it's not, but if it was I'd

• powder coat the frame and swinging arm satin black
  
  wheels gloss black with a red pinstripe
  
  paint the fork lowers satin black
  
  do the bodywork in import pearl white with standard decals.

There you go. Simple, understated and, more importantly, tasteful

I really like our TRX of the month, above! I'd just omit the swingarm sticker, and maybe do the fork lowers in black too.

i would not say that quan times bike looks rubbish

Black frame. Pearl white bodywork with red speedblocks. Gunmetal wheels.

Funny, I like the TotM too!

I used a full-page-size drawing of a white TRX to try different "designs", please remind me to post this file (it's on the PC at home).


Edit: If you are capable using it, PhotoShop does the trick too of course.

As to the color scheme: In my opinion any scheme with tasteful and harmonizing colors and contrasts, especially when supporting existing geometry, is good.

What particular scheme depends on the individual.

I never said I did. I said polished ally looks rubbish, which is why I've de-polished the ally bits on mine.

Don't worry Kayla. If he's polished the brake discs, he'll sail on by and end up in a hedge.

I feel I should qualify my previous posts within this topic.

I think, personally and subjectively, that polished aluminium parts on a bike looks crap. There, I said it. This is my own opinion, no-one elses, and is in no way gospel or law. It is my opinion. My. Own. Opinion. Personal. Subjective. Your mileage may vary. Rant over.
