CR&S Vun

As you know, I have been promising to do a write up on the Vun I rode in Milan a cuople of weeks ago.
Has been hectic as you like at work and home over the past couple of weeks so I thought I'd just start with some photos (with a review to follow). I could spend ages looking round the bike and admisiring the design features (I especially liked the carbon fibre rear subframe / seat unit that doubles as an airbox) and more photos will follow.
So here goes:
The bikes (silver is Roberto's race version and the purple / blue one is the one I spent most of my time on (with a lowly 65bhp

)
An exclusive club
Me on the bike - looking like an excited kid / retard
An idea of size - these bikes are bloody tiny as you can see parked up next top the other bieks that went on tour. But that's what makes them great in the mountains and they pretty much left everything for dead (except for the Ducati motard that Darren was riding like a cnut

)

Looks like it was a blast!!
.. but am I missing something: RWU forks, single front disc, 65bhp, seat/rad guard/headlight/colours all an 'acquired' taste (i.e. I don't like them) ??
Sure, its quite unusual-looking (although a bit Buell-y) and very impressive if its been done by a bloke in a shed, but why is it so good?
Is it in the ride? Is it really light/quick steering/low geared/lowdown torque?
Not trying to be objectionable: sure it was a great experience, just need to be convinced pls...
So look forward to the full write up mate.

Think of a 65 bhp 125 and you`ll get the idea.
Let alone the 80 odd brake full race model,a good single will leave just about anything through the twisties.

65bhp and 135 kg

It's like riding a pushbike
I'll elaborate in the full review when I get a chance

Or 130 with cast wheels... why spokes if it ain't dirt jumping?
My Duke was very good on track with 49hp and 150kg (claimed)...I'll bet 65 / 135 is pretty damn impressive.
Still nowhere near a TZ250, but then it'll be a wee bit easier to use on the road!

spoked wheels are cool as f#ck - I has some on my TDR250 that I sold (and wish I hadn't)
as you say, my 250 stroker makes 50bhp and weighs 150kgs and I was expecting similar performance but that 15kgs and 15 bhp makes a helluva difference

Or alternatively...the ultimate track bike!

I'd still like a CR&S for my road bike though.

My Husaberg made 60 bhp no weight, so easy to push through the twisty's, R1 couldnt keep up on real Fen roads, Oh and spokes are stronger than cast wheels, especially as they wheelie really easy. as for a single disc, they stop and stoppie no probs on that!!

NEVER underestimate a good single in a good chassis, many a time I`ve seen them stomp all over massively powerful machines in mixed classes on the track.
My Skorpion would leave me behind if I could ride both it and my TRX on the same stretch of country road at the same time.So idl1975 seeing as you and the boss are good pals, any chance of some serious discount?

Wrong person to ask I'm afraid!

if you are serious, I'm sure a mutually agreeable price could be sorted. BUT, bear in mind that the Euro sterling exchange means that the basic build price has increased from less than £10k last year to about £13k now

I'd still like a CR&S for my road bike though.

Oh yes, a lightweight stripped down version with an overbore and some tuning could easily mean 85bhp and 130kgs which would be very competitive in the single cylinder class (and a right hoot on track and the road)

OUCH on the price!
I`ll have to join the ranks of rent boys on Carlton Hill to make me some serious cash.
Things of beauty though,no doubt about it.
Light, good quality components, the best of engineering and with enough stomp(even in the road going form)to give you all the grins you might ever want.
I`m guessing the injection also gives them faultless fuelling?
Big singles with big carbs can `bog down` if you don`t play it carefully.Mines not too bad,but it`s not tuned to extreme,YET!

I'm just writing the report but faultless fuelling is not a term I would use. The FI is bloody good (and way better than any carbed single I've ridden) but it was a bit lumpy under 3k
